About me
I believe the following says a lot about who I am and why I am passionate about my work. I feel fortunate to have amazing students and a diverse, ever-changing workday. I love the variety, switching between teaching business students to instructing four-year-olds, chatting with a group of seniors, being creative with seven-year-olds, and encouraging final-year students, all in the same day. While I enjoy the diversity of the days, the students benefit from my patience and determination that I will provide what they need.
My Training
I am a native English speaker who grew up in Howth, a charming fishing village just outside Dublin. Over the years, I’ve completed studies in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), management, sales and marketing and agriculture.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, including training other teachers to instruct in English, my background equips me to provide expert guidance. I spent a decade in London, working in various capacities, including consulting and management in the recruitment industry, as well as assisting school inspectors within the Department of Education.
My mission
My work at Speak English has given me the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of people varying from very young children relocating with families abroad, to senior banking staff topping up their presentation skills. From dyslexic and autistic students, people with learning difficulties and special needs to straight A students. The variety of students and their specific challenges makes my work extremely interesting and worthwhile and has strengthened my ability to accommodate the need of the individual. We reach our goals by working together.
